Installation guide

Setting up IBO Player, one platform at a time

IBO Player is the only application IPTVWow supports, and it is deliberately chosen: it installs on close to every platform in circulation, the interface stays out of the way, and playback is smooth on modest hardware. This guide covers each installation route, playlist pairing, and the handful of settings worth changing on day one.

Before you begin: have your IPTVWow welcome email open. It carries the playlist details you will need in the pairing step. Not ordered yet? Start on the CA$10.99 entry month and come back here.

What IBO Player does well, and where it falls short

Honest assessment first, because it saves support tickets later.

The strengths

The limitations

Installing on Android phones, tablets and boxes

  1. Get the installation file

Download the Android build from the IBO Player official website.

  2. Approve the download

Because the file comes from outside your device's app store, Android will warn you. Choose to download anyway.

  3. Open the file

Tap the downloaded package from your notification shade or file manager.

  4. Install

Confirm the installation prompt and wait a few seconds.

  5. Launch the app

An introductory screen explains the basics. Read it, then continue — we cover playlist pairing further down this page.

Installing on Windows

The Windows build requires Windows 10 or newer on a 64-bit system.

  1. Download the Windows installer

Take the desktop build from the official download page.

  2. Get past SmartScreen

Windows blocks installers it has not seen before. Select "More info", then "Run anyway".

  3. Work through the wizard

Accept the defaults, decide whether you want a desktop shortcut, and continue.

  4. Finish and launch

Complete the installation and open IBO Player.

Installing on Amazon Fire TV devices

Fire TV hardware needs a side-loading helper first, because IBO Player is not in Amazon's own store.

  1. Open search on the Fire TV home screen

Move to the magnifier icon and press OK.

  2. Install the Downloader utility

Type "Downloader", select it from the suggestions and install it. Allow media access when prompted.

  3. Enable installs from unknown sources

Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and switch on "Install unknown apps" for Downloader. If Developer Options is not visible, open the About panel and press OK on your device name seven times — it will appear.

  4. Fetch the IBO Player package

In Downloader, enter the official IBO Player android download code and start the transfer. Leave the remote alone until it finishes.

  5. Install and open

Confirm the install prompts, dismiss the welcome message and the app is ready.

Installing on macOS

  1. Download the macOS build

Take the Mac version from the official download section.

  2. Drag it into Applications

Open the downloaded image and drop the icon into your Applications folder.

  3. Open it from Launchpad

macOS will refuse the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store. That is expected.

  4. Allow it in System Settings

Open the Apple menu, then System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll to the security section and choose "Open Anyway".

  5. Confirm once

Select "Open Anyway" in the confirmation dialogue. The choice sticks — subsequent launches are normal.

Installing on LG and Samsung smart televisions

This is the easiest route of all, because both manufacturers carry the app directly. The example below uses an LG set running webOS; Samsung is near-identical.

  1. Open the content store

Launch the LG Content Store from your television's home row.

  2. Search

Select the magnifier icon in the top corner and type "IBO Player".

  3. Pick the right result

Several similarly named apps will appear. Choose the one named exactly "IBO Player" and ignore the imitations.

  4. Install and launch

Install, then select Launch. A welcome message appears on first run.

Pairing your IPTVWow playlist

IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. Rather than typing credentials into the television, you enter them once on the IBO Player web portal and the portal pushes them down to your device.

  1. Open Manage Playlist on the IBO Player website

The link sits in the site's top menu.

  2. Find your device details

Back on the television or box, open IBO Player and select the profile icon on the dashboard. The Device Info panel in the top-left corner shows your MAC address and device key.

  3. Log in to the portal

Enter that MAC address and device key into the portal form and sign in.

  4. Add the playlist

Two routes, depending on what your welcome email contains:

    • Add Playlist — for a single streaming line. Give it a name, paste the playlist URL from your IPTVWow email, and leave the guide URL field empty unless you have your own source. Tick the protection option if you want a PIN on it.
    • Add XC Playlist — if you were supplied a host address, username and password instead. Same fields, plus the host.

    Save when you are done.

  5. Refresh the app

Return to IBO Player and reload. Channels, the on-demand vault and seven days of guide data appear automatically.

Settings worth changing straight away

Fix the cramped live TV layout

The default live view packs channel names, preview window and guide too tightly, and on many screens the text overflows. It is a two-second fix. From the dashboard, select the screen icon beside the Wi-Fi indicator to open Live Screen Style, switch from the default layout to the alternative, and save. Channel names get room to breathe and the guide lines up properly. Press the left arrow on your remote at any point to bring the category column back.

Build a favourites list

From the channel listing, press and hold on any channel and choose Add. A heart appears beside the name and the channel joins the Favourites category at the top of the list. With 24,800 channels in the line-up, doing this for your regular fifteen transforms the experience.

Search rather than scroll

The search function inside the live section filters by name as you type. Faster than paging through categories when you know what you want.

The settings panel in brief

If something is not working

Run through these in order before contacting us — they resolve the large majority of reports.

  1. Clear the cache

Settings, then Clear Cache, then reload. Fixes stale channel lists and missing guide data.

  2. Test your connection during the evening

Buffering at 9 p.m. on a line that tests fine at noon is a capacity problem, not a stream problem.

  3. Try the alternative player decoder

Some feeds prefer one decoder over another. Switching is instant and reversible.

  4. Confirm you are not signed in twice

One subscription permits one simultaneous stream. A forgotten session on another device will interrupt the active one.

  5. Message the desk

Still stuck? Reach us through the contact page or on WhatsApp. Tell us the device, the channel name and roughly when it happened — that is usually enough to diagnose it first reply.

New here and reading ahead before ordering? The questions page covers the commercial side, and the packages page has the full price ladder.
